INTERNATIONAL WOMEN”S DAY- 8th
March:
International Women's Day (IWD), originally called International
Working Women's Day, is marked on March 8 every year.
In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women's economic, political, and social achievements. Started as a Socialist political event, the holiday blended in the culture of many countries, primarily in Europe, including Russia. In some regions, the day lost its political flavor, and became simply an occasion for men to express their love for women in a way somewhat similar to a mixture of Mother's Day and Valentine's Day. In other regions, however, the political and human rights theme designated by the United Nations runs strong, and political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner.
Except in the early tribal
societies, women are subjected to inequality in most social systems. In
societies along with increase in production were born inequality and classes,
with this was born property, and family systems. From then almost all social
system have been male dominated, Under feudalism women has hardly any respect
from the ceaseless work, be in the house, or the care of children, or even work
in the fields. Though she is thus central to the family and community, she
enjoys hardly any rights. She is a great productive force, but considered as a “burden”,
Dowry was the result. The capitalist system may provide limited opportunities
to women, but in its male-dominated, property -based system she is treated like
a commodity.
Working class, peasants, (whether men
or women) should join together to fight against exploitation. Women need
freedom not from men but from the capitalist system, where all the poor are
discriminated irrespective of their religion, caste or sex.
